ผลรวม · the digit sum
Add every digit together, then read what the total means
ผลรวม — the digit sum — is every digit of the number added up. 0812345678 comes to 44, and then 44 is read off the texts. The method is old and widely used, because it is easy to work out and gives one answer for the whole number.
Its limitation comes from the same place: a sum cannot see order. Numbers made of the same digits in a different arrangement always come to the same total, even though the คู่เลข inside them are a different matter entirely. That is why ผลรวม weighs less than คู่เลข in our formula.
One thing worth knowing about the sum tables. The ones in general circulation tend to write only about the auspicious totals, because most of the people writing them sell numbers. When we started, more than half of the totals had no source at all, and almost all of those were on the inauspicious side. So we went looking until every total a number can reach had one.
